Novenas with FriendsSupport

Privacy

Your prayer remains yours.

Effective September 24, 2026

This policy covers the Novenas with Friends iOS app. For privacy questions or requests, email stephen@saintjosephsupply.com.

On your device

The app saves your prayer schedules and history, favorites, reminder choices, private intentions and reflections, custom prayers, fasting records, group information, and sharing preferences on your device. A display name is optional. Catalogue searches stay in the app. Local reminders do not include intention or reflection text. The bundled prayer library works offline.

Your device may back up app data under your Apple settings. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to those backup settings. It does not automatically delete iCloud records or copies already shared with other people.

Optional private iCloud copy

If you choose “Synchronize private journal with iCloud” in Me, the app stores an archive in your private CloudKit database. It includes prayer instances and completions, private intentions and reflections, custom prayers, private fasting records, blocked and hidden-content choices, and report drafts. A random installation identifier helps merge your own devices. This archive is separate from group shares. Your display name, favorites, and reminder settings are not included in the current private archive.

“Delete private iCloud copy” in Me removes the app’s private-journal CloudKit zone for your Apple Account. Your device copy and group shares remain. If another device still has local data and synchronizes later, it may create a new private copy.

Invited groups and sharing

Each group novena uses its own private CloudKit share. Owners invite people through Apple’s sharing controls. Members can see the group name, prayer and fixed schedule, member display names, and an intention only if it was explicitly shared. A private reflection is never posted automatically: sharing creates a separate group copy. You may also choose to share a meditation or link, a group fasting intention, or a prayer completion. You control the visibility of future completion details in Me. Private fasting practice notes and recorded days are not posted to the group.

Invited people with read-write access may copy or change shared data. Closing a group stops new activity in the app and keeps its history; it does not revoke the CloudKit share or invitation links. Owners can manage participants or stop sharing through Apple’s controls. Members can leave. Someone who already received content may retain a copy outside the app.

Reports and outside links

You can hide shared content or block a person on your device. A report draft stays local and, if private iCloud sync is enabled, in your private archive. Preparing a report does not send it. If you send the prepared email from Mail, the support mailbox receives your sender address and details you include, such as a reason, item identifiers, an excerpt, or a link. Sent reports are used to investigate and address abuse and retained while needed for that purpose or legal obligations. You may request deletion of a support email at the address above.

External meditation links open outside the app, where the destination site’s policy applies. Apple operates iCloud, CloudKit, Mail, and device backups under its terms. The app includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not sell data or track people across apps.

Your choices

You may pray without a group or private iCloud synchronization; change future completion visibility; turn off reminders; delete the private iCloud copy; hide or block shared content; leave a group; or ask an owner to remove shared material. Owners can manage access or stop sharing. For data questions or help deleting a report email, contact stephen@saintjosephsupply.com. We cannot erase copies another member kept outside the app.

Changes

If the app’s data practices change, this page and the App Store privacy information will be updated.
